What is better Creatine or Protein?

Code13: Matt, you’ve been at the club for the last four seasons, is this pre-season any different to the last three?

Matt Daniels: The main thing we have done is to try and change the culture in terms of professionalism and in the way players approach pre-season. We had a full and frank discussion at the end of last season and we wanted to make sure everyone bought into that ethos. The players have come back in good shape and that means we have been making gains from day one. They have not hammered themselves and have rested, but have also been sensible and got themselves prepared for pre-season. In the past we could be two or three weeks into pre-season and in ‘negative equity’ as some of the players have come back a little sloppy.

Each year, the use of weight gain or strength of the supplements used by young athletes continues to rise. Athletes think that by taking these supplements, they become more athletic and able to obtain scholarships. Unfortunately coaches in all sports and all levels of players that are constantly looking bigger, stronger and faster. In this piece, I want to give young players advice and caution on the use of supplements, someone with experience.
